A Hero

A hero doesn't know or think he's a hero as he's doing his heroic act...unless he is in it for himself. This is why those who are asked afterward about the incident never pride themselves as heroes of any kind. They often say, "Anyone would have done it."

My darling, the truth is, heroic acts are often unnoticed. How many people are doing wonderful things everyday and receive no reward or credit? Like the woman who carries a widow's groceries. Does she make the news? No, of course not. But to that widow, the woman has made a lasting impression and it will stay with her.

Jesus came to be the Hero, but He did not seek a hero's reward. He sought freedom for the captives. He sought hope for the hopeless. He sought to do My will, fulfilling the agenda of heaven. And so, my darling, go and do what I have called you to do without an ounce of self-thought. Don't think about how this will make you look or what people will think. People that help people don't think in such terms...they simply go and help.
