My Not-So-Pretend Friend

I asked the Lord this morning what was on His heart. He began to address something He said to me several years ago, "Valerie, I want you to stop thinking that I'm some kind of fairy tale. This is real life and I am real." 

I remember feeling a little surprised at His words. He was showing me my heart and revealing that I often don't take Him as seriously as I should because I don't recognize how truly real He is on the earth and in my life. He's not a make-believe character. He's as real as real can get in this world (we just don't see Him). He wasn't condemning me over it, though. He was just getting to the heart of things and helping me see why I might not reach out to Him, believe Him, or engage in the calling He has for me as much He wants me to.

Fairy tales are make-believe

like you learned in Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

Pretend and 'imagine with me'

became your way of thinking: 

"It's not real but how fun if it could be!"

Anything outside the natural became like a pipe dream.

You separated happy endings from your reality.

Until you met Me.

I changed your way of thinking! 

I flipped it around and let you see what is real and what is pretend. I let you see it first hand!

And helped you see I AM NOT PRETEND!

You don't have to 'imagine peace in your life' because I AM the reality of it! No matter how you slice or dice!

You don't have to 'hype it up' to know My joy. I AM the One who fills you -- literally -- it's not just a bunch of noise.

Yes, you don't have to play make-believe with Me

because I AM as tangible as when I walked with Adam and Eve.

I walked with them in the cool of the day. They saw Me. They talked to Me. I was not a figment of their imaginations, as you would say.

I was real with them and that never has changed! I am still that same God who met with them, every single day.

Do you recognize the difference between reality and pretend? How do you perceive Me then? Am I just a fairytale to you or an imaginary friend? Or am I as real as one of your human friends?

This is what I have come to address in this hour,

to a generation whose concept of faith and belief

stops short of their reality and their ability to believe that they have a real Heavenly Father.

Many children are taught to 

'just believe' in make-believe characters. 

The children believe they are real! 

But oh, how great the crisis when they are told it was nothing but a game! Their ability to believe in anything again becomes strained!

But, I am coming to show them that true love exists. 

I am more real than the one who twice 'checks his list.'

I am truly the One they can believe in!

And I will show them!

For I am turning My world back to the Garden of Eden.
