A Fresh Wind

It's February. We should probably be under snow warnings in my area of the country right now. But instead, yesterday it was warm enough to open up the windows. Ahhh. Believe me, I didn't complain. No one in my house did. There's something about opening to fresh air that changes things in our house. It's like we can breathe again. We can take big, deep breaths as the wind blows from one end of the house to the other. It even feels more relaxed in the home, more comfortable, as the wind passes through.

Just as fresh air feels so good in the natural, so it feels amazing in the supernatural. How incredible the sensation when we pop open the windows of our hearts and let the fresh wind of God's Holy Spirit come in.

God's wind is both gentle and strong. It is fragrant with love and holiness. It is as fire that purifies, deodorizes/sanitizes, if you will, and it just feels good. Even as it cleanses, it is a feel-good cleansing. It chases out the stink of our lives like the natural wind that blows through our houses. It changes the atmosphere. It helps us 'breathe again.'

I'm going to go back today and read the second chapter of Acts in the New Testament. What a wind that blew through that day! And what is remarkable is that those who received the Holy Spirit did not run from Him. They took Him all in.

Breathe in today. Open your windows and breathe. God is blowing His wind into our homes. Let Him blow into yours.
