Anticipating The New

I remember how I felt. The day before, and the day of, my daughters being born. Both of them were scheduled. I was induced with my first daughter, Bryana (24 hours of labor!). And I was scheduled (just a short 18 months later!) for a C-section with my second daughter, Makenna.

I remember. I remember taking a moment and pausing to capture what I was feeling before they were born and the reality that this would be the final moments of a season, now ending. It was the closing of one chapter and the opening of another. After they were born, my life and my husband's life would change... forever. In a most wonderful way!

This morning with the Lord, I sat and reflected on all that He has done in my life, and sensed a 'wrapping up' of the current season. I was imagining Him coming down the street in a new car that He wanted to give me. He pulled into my empty driveway, honked the horn and shook the new car keys out the window as He smiled and said, "Come on kiddo! Let's take a ride in your new car!"

I'm tearing up just thinking about it because ultimately it speaks of God's faithfulness in my life. I've been waiting for Him to 'pull into the driveway' for so long!

Maybe you understand what I mean. Are you waiting on things from God, too? Probably! But, we don't faint in our hope, in fact, we can have ever increasing hope that the answer will come because we are getting to know our God more and more each day!

Makes me think of how Abraham had to wait, too!

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb.

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.

And today I am feeling it.
I can feel I am right on the edge, like when I was about to go into the hospital to have my daughters. The edge of the old going in the new. The ending of one season and the beginning of another.

And all I can do is thank Him. Thank Him for the beautiful past season He has given me and His faithfulness to open the next one to me.

Every chapter of life is beautiful. Each one teaches us new things. Each one gives us a better understanding of who God is. Each one is precious. Each one.
