A Prayer for 9/11

On this day that is dawning, people pause to remember. They remember the moments, the hour. They remember where they were, where they were standing, what they were doing and what they were wearing. They remember.

And so does God.

He remembers. It never leaves His mind, for He is a God of justice. He is our God, our Father divine. And He feels what we feel. He knows us just that well. And so it's important to Him that it's the truth that we tell.

So, Father God, if there are still pieces to the story unknown, uncovered -- let it all come out -- let the truth ring and give justice to those who cried more tears than they can count. Those who have suffered, those who fell victim. God, on this day we remember, let the story be finally re-written, if it needs to be re-written. 

And may those who are left heartbroken find comfort and peace. May they look UP to see that it's You who gives freely. You give so much love and you bind up our wounds. May they reach out to you. For You are with them. You know them. And what they need is found only in You.
