It's Ok to Open Up
I have heard stories of people being rescued out of hostage situations who have a hard time making the mental transition from captivity to freedom. Though they are now safe from harm, they still live in their heart and mind as if they are still captive. They live in fear, uncertainty. They trust no one. This makes me think of rescue animals, too. Animals like cats or dogs who once lived in an abusive home but have now been rescued and placed in a good home. Though they are safe from harm, in their minds they still live with the constant threat of danger. They are anxious. They trust no one. Some rescue animals spend weeks or even months hiding under beds and cabinets from their new owners. They don't understand that things have changed.
God is showing me today that though many of us have had a night of sorrow, season of even trauma, we are coming into a new day. And He's saying, "It's ok to open yourself up now and joyfully give yourself to the plans I have for you!"
Do you feel this way today? If so, remember that God is a God of hope and peace and freedom and joy. And He is able to restore the years "the locust have eaten." Let Him in to love on you and begin to change your thinking, your perception. He has good things for you!
Here's this morning's raw entry:
***
Open up your heart, your life. Open up now to the next season and give yourself without reservation. For there is nothing to fear, no reason to self-protect. There is no danger. There is only love and peace.
For gone are the days of constant torment at your door. Anxiety from ceiling to floor. Tears that fall in the silent night. The whispers of hopelessness that plague your heart and steal your might. GONE are they that have taken your soul
"through the wringer."
I have blown My winds of peace upon you
and your land is free from worry and terror.
Yes, this is a season now of REST for you. REST from the tormentors that have held you captive and forced you to follow their 'tune.’
So give yourself happily now to the Shepherd of your soul. Don't hold back and don't shrink back, for great is His love for you and He knows the plans He has for you!
