Through the Construction Zone

Sometimes feathers just have to get a little ruffled. Change does not come without it. Construction zones on highways are just one picture. In order to achieve the goal of being able to smoothly sail down a freshly paved road, there must be some upheaval at first. There will most likely be a bit of a mess. There will be some disturbances. Changes for the good often look worse than better at first. It may even look like backward motion instead of forward progress.

Think about it. Anything that needs renovation or reformation has to take the path of 'destruction' first. When my husband redid our bathroom, it wasn't even functional at one point. It couldn't even be called a bathroom, based on the definition we call a bathroom. It got far worse before it got better. But it was necessary.

God's renovation might feel about the same way. He comes to bring blessing and upgrade in our lives. But, in order to achieve that
, it might look like a construction zone at first. Things that don't give us life will need to be uprooted or dismantled in order to create space for new things to grow or be brought into our lives. Like a skilled and trustworthy contractor though, He knows what He's doing. He knows what it is going to take to make all things beautiful. And therefore, we can rest in His process.

So, don't get discouraged if things are falling apart around you, even as you might be asking Him to make your circumstances better. His answers to our prayers don't always look the way we expect them to look. Trust Him -- even through the construction zone.
