Playing with Fire
The Bible talks about ALL kinds of subjects, including witchcraft. (If we don’t think the Bible is relevant, this topic alone knocks down that argument. Lol) Have you noticed how obsessed our society is with the topic of witchcraft? So many of our movies, TV shows (especially geared toward children) entertain and include it. The general population doesn’t create, of course, the content, but we still are fascinated with it. I think mainly because we just grew up with it and it’s commonplace to us.
But, we also might not realize how real it is. Yes, there are real people out there that have made an agreement with the devil and call themselves witches. (I literally heard a show host on a TV show once openly and proudly admit that he is one.)
We must remember that the spirit realm is very alive and real. There really are angels around us. There really are demons. There really is the Holy Spirit. There really is the voice of the devil. Not kidding. This is why it’s so important to take cover under our mighty God through Jesus who is so much more powerful than the wimpy little devil in comparison.
I think, though that there are people that find themselves involved in witchcraft simply because they have a curiosity for the spirit realm and they are genuinely looking for life’s answers outside of themselves. I think many very innocently walk into it (just consider the casual use of Ouija boards and tarot cards by so many). What they don’t realize is that they are playing with a real devil that really hates them. But he comes across very sly, the Bible describes him as evil that wraps himself in “light” (coming across deceivingly good). But oh, what a lie!
If you have found yourself playing with witchcraft, I strongly caution you today. Consider this: if you believe any part of the Bible and you believe that God is real, wouldn’t you consider what it tells us about evil and the devil and how he is also real?
God loves you and He wants to talk to you and wants to give you life‘s answers. You might not realize it, but in your searching, what you have really been looking for is HIM. Call on the name of Jesus and He will answer.

When you enter the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable (repulsive) practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire [as a sacrifice], one who uses divination and fortune-telling, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a charm or spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or a necromancer [who seeks the dead]. For everyone who does these things is utterly repulsive to the LORD; and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless (complete, perfect) before the LORD your God. For these nations which you shall dispossess listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners and fortune-tellers, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so. The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me [Moses] from among you, from your countrymen (brothers, brethren). You shall listen to him. [Matt 21:11; John 1:21]
Deuteronomy 18:9-15 AMP
Now there was a man named Simon, who previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great. They all paid [a great deal of] attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is what is called the Great Power of God!” They were paying attention to him because for a long time he had mystified and dazzled them with his magic. But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, both men and women. Even Simon believed [Philip’s message of salvation]; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he watched the attesting signs and great miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed.
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that [the people of] Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. They came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for He had not yet fallen on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus [as His possession]. Then Peter and John laid their hands on them [one by one], and they received the Holy Spirit. Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this authority and power too, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” But Peter said to him, “May your money be destroyed along with you, because you thought you could buy the [free] gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this matter, because your heart (motive, purpose) is not right before God. [Ps 78:37] So repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, this thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are provoked by bitterness and bound by sin.” [Deut 29:18; Is 58:6] But Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me both of you, so that nothing of what you have said will come upon me.”
