There's More Help Than You Think
He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalms 147:10-11 NLT
***
Did you know that God is not looking to see how strong you can be in your own strength? Nope. He doesn't stand back and take delight in seeing how well you can handle a trial or manage everyday life in your own power and wits. He's not sitting there with a clipboard grading you and handing out report cards.
Psalm 147 assures us that He's not 'tickled pink' when we lean on our own understanding, strength and abilities. No, He is looking, though, for something else: Our trust. Our hope in His love. Our faith in His understanding, strength and ability.
Honestly, for many of us, this probably flips our concept of God and our relationship with Him on its head. haha. We might be used to thinking the opposite -- that God is looking to see how strong we are by ourselves and will reward those who can weather a storm by themselves (without God's help) the best. no no no. Get that stickin' thinkin' right out of your head right now. That's the world's thinking. That's what the world teaches us. God never teaches that. God teaches from His Word and His Word says that He's not impressed with our own strength -- but He IS delighted when He sees our faith, hope and trust in Him! HA! HA!
Are you going through a trial? Are you facing situations that are 'above your pay grade?' Are you in over your head? Are you simply just trying to manage daily life with everyday things and situations? Then do this:
Lean. Lean, but not on yourself. Lean on God. Let your burdens melt into His lap and then absorb the strength that He offers. I'm telling you, this will be a game-changer in your life. You don’t have to go it alone. There is more help than you think.
Amplified Version:
“He does not delight in the strength (military power) of the horse, Nor does He take pleasure in the legs (strength) of a man. The Lord favors those who fear and worship Him [with awe-inspired reverence and obedience], Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness. [Ps 145:20]”
