When God Answers

We rush to the side of those who have fallen. We comfort them, giving them some water. We open our purses, our wallets to help the relief. We can't stand by and just do nothing.

And so it is with our Father in heaven. He looks down and sees the tragedies and hearts that are broken. He can not sit back and just observe from His haven. He must act. He must move. For what kind of Father would He be if He did absolutely nothing? Would He not answer even if it was just one voice or two?

So, we cry out to Him and tell Him our needs. We know He will come and send relief. We wait. We hope. We dream of what He will do. And then we brace ourselves because we know that He will certainly remember our prayers and help us when time is due.

The question is,
will we be ready when that time comes into view?
And will we recognize that it is Him on the day He acts
and answers our prayers to make things new?
Will we see Him? Will we give Him the credit due?

We know this one thing, whatever He does, it is always with the best intentions. So we look for His goodness! We look for the beauty as He acts. We recognize that He often answers prayers differently than we might first think, He answers according to His justice and righteousness.

We consider when He responded to the crisis over sin. He sent His Son, Jesus, and they martyred Him! (Though He willingly went to the cross for our sin.) God answered. God responded but it did not look like they thought it would. It looked wrong, chaotic and outside of their neat, little doctrine.

So we cry out to God with no agenda to control Him. We cry out and know that He knows best and He knows what to do to relieve us from this mess. We ask, we seek and then we wait on Him. We trust it all to Him. And we trust that He will not fail us. He will not fail us now just as He never failed us back then.
