When Life Feels Big & Complicated
Sometimes life feels big and complicated. I feel like a kindergartener on her first day of school, lost in the busy hallway with no idea how to get to my classroom.
Days like this make me stop and get real simple with God in my prayers. I remind myself that I'm not Him. I'm not God. I don't run the world and He's not asking me to. I can't control everything. I can't control people. I can't control Him. So what do I do then when I desperately want to experience peace and rest but I can't control things to make that happen?
I stop. I take a breath. I remind myself of what is true. I remind myself that I am God's precious daughter whom He loves and cares for. I look in the mirror and remember that I'm human. I am alive because God created me and gave me breath. I look around and remind myself that everything I have and where I am is because of His grace in my life. I remember that the way to peace is not by me having more control but rather relinquishing it to Him. Let Him be Lord. Let Him guide. Let Him lead.
It doesn't mean I do nothing, though. It means I'm not boss. And that unloads a whole lot of burden! And it frees me up to find out what is my place. It releases me to find His will for my life and live it out wholeheartedly!
When life feels big and complicated,
just stop.
Take a breath.
Remind yourself that
you are a child of God,
not God, Himself.
Recognize your place before Him
and in His Kingdom.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Look up
and see Him smiling.
He's got you.
***
Alive!
I'm alive and breathing
and ready to worship and follow you,
keeping my eyes lifted and my heart before you.
For, You keep it beating
and my breath repeating.
You are the reason I am alive.
I remember today that
I can not create from nothing.
Only You can do that, Lord!
I can not give life
for that is Your job, too! Yes,
there are things I can not do.
Those things are for the King.
But, I do my part
and that is a beautiful thing!
Oh, to know our place before Him
and know our place in the Kingdom!
We are not to play God and be foolish this way,
but we don't sit back and do nothing
as if we don't have purpose in this day!
And we remember, too,
that all things are from His hand.
So anything that prospers
can be traced back to His provision!
I'm alive.
And today is what I've been given.
I have a pulse, a breath and provision.
So I walk in faith and walk in love
and leave everything I don't understand
with you, My loving Lord,
who created me, cares for me and
caresses my life with love.
