The Singer

I was just about to leave before the closing song.
But something kept me waiting there
just a little long - er.

I sipped my drink and looked around.
Everyone was waiting
for what they came for
at the beginning.

I didn't realize because I walked in late
that it had been announced
that the final act was worth the wait.
So I settled back in and began to anticipate.

"Life is beautiful," the singer began.
"So why sit there and throw up your hands?
Give to today all your attention and strength
and just watch how discouragement fades away.

"A garden doesn't grow in a day.
So sow the seeds meant to be sewn in today.
And tomorrow will thank you.
Tomorrow will smile,
because you lived in today,
enjoying life for awhile."

I couldn't help wonder what the singer had gone through.
Did she know for herself the story in her tune?
I could see with my eyes that she took her own advice
as she sat there singing about enjoying her life.

"Life is beautiful," the singer sang again.
"So why sit there and throw up your hands?
Give to today all your attention and strength
and just watch how discouragement fades away.

"A garden doesn't grow in a day.
So sow the seeds meant to be sewn in today.
And tomorrow will thank you.
Tomorrow will smile,
because you lived in today,
enjoying life for awhile...

So live in today and enjoy life for awhile..."
