A Plant's Perspective

This morning, the Lord is reminding me that transition into the next thing He has for us can feel shaky and uncertain. He reminded Me of the entry I wrote called, "Life Beyond the Potted Plant" and got me thinking about how a potted plant might feel when it is being transplanted to a bigger pot or space. Because it has limited perspective, the plant might feel bewildered and scared. It might even resist the hands that lift it/hold it. It might want to grab on to its pot -- the only life it knows.

So, God is reminding me of my need for resting in Him. The more we rest, the more we will trust Him. And the more we trust Him, the easier it will be for Him to uproot us and transition us into new spaces and places.

Do you feel like a potted plant that is getting disrupted? Do you feel the soil around you moving and your life being lifted from its current place? If so, get with God and find His rest in the midst of the transition and shifting and even shaking.

If the potted plant knew the good that was in store for it, it would rest easy and cooperate to the fullest extent with the hands that move it. ;)

Here's how the Lord said it to me this morning:

Don't be afraid, my darling one. If things get disrupted it's not because I have stopped being the Faithful One! It means I have much more for you -- a promotion that I am scooping you up into! Remember the potted plant! Consider its perspective. It only knows what is in front of it. So when it's scooped up it might be frightened, bewildered. It might want to grab the sides of the pot and resist the fingers that hold it. It might not understand because of its limited vision. It might not want to move because it does not have all the information.

And so I say again My beauty, My bride: REST, come inside. Come into the chambers that love grows best. My heart for you is only for good things. And the more you rest, the more you'll believe My full intentions and you will resist less and less until finally you give in and are at perfect rest.
