If Not You, Then Who?

If not your voice, then who's?

If you don't fill the space 

someone else 

will gladly do

what I have called you to.

The space will still get filled

for someone will occupy the land.

So why not you, darling?

I have a friend who loves the Lord and is wonderful at counseling people. She's a great listener. She's speaks from the heart. And she always looks for truth and honesty and freedom for the person she is counseling. It's amazing. She is a voice for this generation, truly. She has so much to offer and I'm so glad she is pursuing it, not just for her sake because she loves it so much and is so good at it, but also for the sake of those she encounters. For there are other voices that are happy to fill her space... 

Like other people I know who are also into counseling, but they do not walk in the light like my friend does. So, their philosophies are not based on truth and they work out of a counterfeit love. They are still leading people, but sadly in the wrong direction, without even realizing it.

See, space will always need to be occupied. And we, as God's people, have an opportunity, as well as a choice. Will we let light and truth fill that space or will we shrink back and let darkness occupy it?

I know God's opinion on the matter. He says, "Occupy! Occupy until I come back." He doesn't want us staying silent, living in the shadows, muzzled and ineffective. He leads us to our territory and says, "Run! Take the land! It is yours if you will be brave enough to run with Me in it."

Oh, may we be brave! May we courageously step up and not shrink back. May we 'take the land' by letting our light shine. If we don't, darkness will gladly inhabit the space that light is meant to fill.
