Tear Seeds
She wept as she went, her tears large and heavy, splashing the ground like water balloons hitting pavement. She could not help herself. She was deeply moved and deeply troubled.
She tried to catch the tears, but they insisted in the descent, almost with a determination to make it to the ground. It seemed the tears knew something she did not. They knew that once they hit the ground and saturated the earth, the making of new life would begin and the making of her days of joy would be born.
So the tears persisted down. Down, down, down her cheeks they traveled. Down, down, down they made their way, into the ground, the soil, the womb for new life. And there... there the amazing transpired! Only God, Himself, knows how, but those tears of sorrow transformed into life-giving seeds!
And there the seeds began to grow. And up, up, up from the soil they grew. And up, up, up the tiny plants poked through. The plants, also, seemed determined as if they knew something, too!
With joy bubbling in them the plants accelerated forward, finding the light and letting each petal open. The beauty and joy of one little flower outweighed all the seeds, yes all the seeds of sorrow!
And OH what joy as the same girl who cried, picked up the flowers and lifted them high to the sky.
"Flowers from my tears! Oh how could it be?" the girl laughed and twirled and then fell to her knees. "Oh, Lord, only You can take tears and make them into something beautiful for me!"

When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!
Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert.
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
