Follow

When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 

Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Matthew 8:18-20 NIV

Jesus never sugar-coated things. He was honest with people when He told them that following Him would take them out of their comfort zone. He wasn’t promising and guaranteeing a luxurious lifestyle...(He was actually promising them far more than that - an adventure of a lifetime as they trusted their Heavenly Father to lead them and provide for them.) Question was, would they still follow?

And the question remains for us today.

But, my friends, here's the plot twist! Though we don't follow Him for personal gain, in the end we do gain it all! It's like a story of a 'poor boy' that asks a girl to marry him even though he can not promise her an easy life...only for it to turn out that he is an heir in another kingdom and wealthier than any lad in the land! Haha!

Friends, let go of what is temporary to gain the riches that can only be found when you follow the King.
