Believe in the Recipe
I enjoy cooking and baking when I have time. Rather than a recipe box, we keep a big three ring binder in our kitchen with our favorite recipes from over the years. It still amazes me when baking, how you can take ingredients that most do not taste good by themselves (well except sugar ;) and put them together to make something delicious. In general, I don't get it. On a science, molecular level that is. I don't know or understand all the ins-and-outs of why these ingredients do what they do when they are blended. I just trust the recipe. I trust that if I read and follow the instructions, it's going to have great results!
This morning, God used this very analogy with me concerning applying His Word to my life. I realize sometimes that I don't apply what the Bible tells me to do simply because I don't understand how that would work or be effective. I logically dismiss it. Like declaring His Word. I might say to myself, "What difference do my words make anyway? How silly to think that speaking and declare His victory over me and my house will have a positive effect or do anything. It's just nonsense."
BUT ENTER FAITH, STAGE RIGHT.
When you mix His Word with faith you activate things in the Spirit. Anyone can just say words, but speak them with faith and you're on a whole new playing field. Now your words are moving mountains. Now your words are shifting, changing things and bringing in the atmosphere of heaven!!
Do you let logic or not understanding “how it works” hold you back from believing God's Word in your life? Jesus and Peter walked on water and that was completely illogical! Lazarus was raised from the dead. Mary got pregnant as a virgin. The blind man from birth was healed and could see!! haha!
Trust His Word. Believe it. Apply it. More than you trust your favorite recipe.
