JOY! To The World!
I’ve never heard an angry birth announcement made. And I’m glad for it. Can you imagine someone using an angry voice when announcing the birth of their child?
Haha! That would just be ridiculous! A child coming into the world is a beautiful thing. Even if it’s under rough circumstances, a new baby boy or girl is a gift to those receiving him/her. And the parents usually rejoice over the occasion and joyfully celebrate with their family and friends.
Looks like God felt the same way when His Son was born. I can imagine Him pulling out all the stops in Heaven for such a celebration. I can picture His angels rejoicing loudly in Heaven and the Father passing out cigars. (Ha! That's a joke. Don't worry. God doesn't smoke.) Then, in their excitement, I can see the Father saying, “This is an amazing occasion! Angels, go to earth and make my official baby announcement!”
And that’s how God introduced His Son to world. Not with gloom and doom, but rather with joy and celebration because finally the LIGHT had come into the world!
If this is how God chose to introduce His Son and announce such Good News, we should take note and follow suit. We, too, should introduce Jesus to others with JOY, like the shepherds went and did - not with a tone of judgment or doom. God has done an amazing thing! And only celebration is in order! Just as our traditional Christmas song declares:
“It’s a Boy! And we’re furious!”

That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby
wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—
the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
