Undone & Giving In
God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what.

My pastor put it perfectly in a recent sermon: "You know you're in the presence of God when you are filleted opened by Him." I agree. His Word can slice through our confusion, our doubt, our defenses, and our 'keeping it all together' pretenses. His Word comes in like a contractor on demolition day - pulling down the old broken pieces, moving things out to create more space, and prepping that space for all things new.
God is gentle but He is also serious about the transformation of our hearts. He means business. He is like a surgeon who handles his patients with care, yet uses extremely sharp tools to cut them open and get to the bottom of the problem.
And who can resist Him when standing in His Presence? No one. We are undone. Like Isaiah...
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

God's Holiness leaves us completely 'ruined' and we recognize that our religion is useless in His Presence. There is nothing we can say in that moment but "Holy, Holy, Holy!"
But we also, in that same moment, are simultaneously ravished by His Pure Love for us. And who can push against such Love? It is like a flood gushing over us. His Cleansing, Living Water wears us down until we finally give in to Him. His pursuit is relentless and there is nothing He won't try if it means in the end we are fully His. He won't ever give up. He won't ever stop. There is then nothing left for us to do but to let ourselves go and let Him have our hearts.
